Communism is a utopia. It does not matter whether some states were 
skipped or not done just right. It will never work. If the principle is 
that everybody will be given according to his needs but has to produce 
according to his abilities, there is no incentive to produce.

Stalin's way to make peoole to produce was by terror. The moment Stalin 
disappeared and at least mass murders stopped, decay started. Soviet 
society was extremely undpoductive and this is why it could not cope with 
the natural events or keep up with the West.

Anybody who visited Russia must have seen that the country is most 
terribly run down. It was totally neglected and no vaue was attached 
to property of any sort: it did not belong to anybody. The only 
impressive thing are military trucks. The rest of the coutnry were 
sacrifyced to the military and to the Communist dogma.

Communism is a utopia. Whatever stages were skipped or not properly 
practiced does not matter at all. the problem is that if people are given 
by the state depending on their need and are expected to produce 
according to their ability, there is no insentive to produce. The only 
way to make people to produce is the Stalin's way: threaten to kill them 
and kill some to show that you are serious. the moment Stalin disappeared 
and at least mass murders stoppe, the decay started.

Sorry - while I have a Hungarian background, I can't write in Hungarian
.... ( I can bearly make myself understood in English!).

I'm trying to trace details about any relatives I may have left alive in
Hungary (or *anywhere* in the world) and hope the 'net and the generosity
of the people who use it may provide information.

Here's all I know - if anyone can fill in any details - please email me ...

My name is Miklos Alexander Harshegyi. Both my parents are dead. While
most of my mother's family are here in Australia, I have never met anyone
from my father's side of the family. For the sake of my curiosity (and for
my children), I would like to know more.

My dad's name was Marton Harshegyi - well, that's the name he changed to
when he arrived in Australia before the '56 uprising. While I don't know
the exact spelling of his original surname, phonetically (in english) it
would be "H'riv-nyek" (gee - I hope this works ...). Apparently he changed
his name to make it sound 'more magyar', so he could be readily accepted
in Australian/Hungarian society.

He once told me how his family lives/lived in a part of Czech. that used
to be a part of Hungary. The women in his family, on learning that they
were 'with child', would travel to Hungary (a town called (once again,
phonetically, 'Mish-koltz') to deliver their child so that it would be a
Hungarian citizen.

I know he had/has relatives in the U.S. but I have no idea of names or
adresses ...

He didn't talk about the war *ever*, so I don't know what 'side' he was on
- other than the side of personal survival. I suspect he felt that he may
(from an allied perspective) have been on the 'wrong' side - but time has
passed, wounds have healed, and I would like to know something!

Dad died March 15 1988, aged 64. His date of birth was 30th March. Dad
married Marika Zacharias in Australia. Mum died Jan 13 this year (1996)
aged 67. I believe mum was born and raised in Budapest.

In case (by some freak of fate) you recognise the above and *are* a
relative, here's more that may jog your memory ... or satisfy your
curiosity ...

Together, Marton & Marika had three sons in Adelaide, South Australia -
Martin Stephen (b. Nov 15 1960), Miklos Alexander (b. Jun 19 1962) & Rudi
Janos (b. Aug 30 1963).

I now have a defacto wife (Kelley - an Australian) & two beautiful
daughters - Maddison Maree (4.5 yrs) & Taylor Ashleigh Patricia (2.5)

I really don't want to say too much about about myself (I'm a bit paranoid
about info on the internet). so, if ANY of the above means ANYTHING to

Why can't something be done about these con artists.  Are there still
