THE DANUBE RIVER IS THE MOST POLLUTED WHERE IT PASSES THROUGH
Budapest, according to the Environmental Protection Directorate.
There, 8-900,000 cubic meters of sewage flow into the river annually
compared to one million cubic meters annually between 1980 and 1990.
Only 20-30% of the sewage entering the river is cleaned and samples
of the water contain salmonella bacteria, reports Nepszabadsag.

HUNGARY HAS BANNED LARGE TRUCKS FROM THE ROADS BETWEEN 7A.M. on
Saturdays and 10 p.m. on Sundays until Aug. 31 in order to decrease
pollution. The ban will apply to trucks heavier than 7.5 tons. It
will be extended to the whole year starting in 1997 if the plan is
successful this summer. The fine for violations will be up to HUF
50,000. The ban has generated criticisms from business leaders who
say the truck ban will raise prices, reports the Budapest Business
  Journal.

(csak nem? kivancsi vagyok, sikerul-e ezt keresztulvinni es
megvalositani...)

Pervomaisk (South-Ukrainian Nuclear power Plant), June 1, -
All the cities in the 30 km zone around South-Ukrainian NPP
are cleaned up by disactivating substances. It's possible that
South-Ukranian Nuclear Power Plant have released a big amount
of radioactivity to the atmosphere on May 27, - special
correspondent reported from Pervomaisk, a small city is
located in 32km from the NPP. It's a tradition in Ukraine to
cleanse cities by disactivating chemicals after serious
accidents with radioactivity release from NPP, but nobody
knows is it helping anybody. It wasn't any press-release from
plant or state officials following accident days.

Excluded from "ANTI-ATOM PRESS" N 56, June 1996
a russian newsletter of nuclear news and events
publishing by xUSSR antinuclear activists.

+ - verbefolytott atomszemet-szallitas elleni tiltakozas (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

Rendoroksel vertek le az atomszemet szallitas ellen tiltakozokat
Nemetorszagban.

Mark Illes meseli, hogy par hete lattott egy tudositast az RTL-en arrol,
hogy 60 ezer rendort vezenyeltek ki a Franciorszagbol Nemetorszagba torteno
atomhulladek (vissza)szallitas ellen tiltakozo tuntetok ellen, es verbe
folytottak a tiltakozast. Nagyon durvan, brutalisan tortek le a szallitast
ellenzo megmozdulasokat. Minden vasutalomason ott voltak a kommandosok, aki
ellenvelemenyet hangoztatta, annak nem kegyelmeztek. Sinekre fekudtek,
elhurcoltak oket, stb. (nocsak, ez ismeros!), de amikor mar nagyon eldurvult
a helyzet, akkor ok is visszautottek, a vegere mar nem volt
teljesen eroszakmentes a tiltakozas, nehany rendor is megserult, de hat a
kommandosok sokkal durvabbak voltak...

Tud-e valaki errol az esemenybol reszletesebben beszamolni, esetleg irott
anyagot?
