Title:	Deputy Program Director for Central and Eastern Europe (with the 
possibility to advance to Program Director)
Location:	Budapest, Hungary
Salary:	$18,000 - 24,000 per year, depending on qualifications
Prerequisites: Citizen of a Central or East European Country, Law Degree, 
Fluency in English, and at least 3 Years Work Experience.

Detailed Description:

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is an 
international resource organization that provides technical assistance, 
training, research, and education to support the development of an 
appropriate legal framework for not-for-profit organizations in countries 
around the world.  In Central and Eastern Europe, ICNL is working in 14 
countries as part of the United States Agency for International 
Development's Democracy Network Project.  ICNL staffs this project 
through its headquarters in Washington, DC and its regional office 
located in Budapest, Hungary.

ICNL seeks a Deputy Program Director (DPD) for its regional office in 
Budapest.  The DPD will work closely with ICNL's Executive Vice 
President, Vice President, and Program Director to design, implement and 
monitor ICNL's projects in the region.  The DPD also will provide legal 
assistance in conjunction with ICNL's senior staff.  

The DPD will be expected to help meet USAID-required tasks under this 
project, including the preparation of regular reports for USAID.  ICNL 
has few support staff assigned to this project, and the DPD will be 
expected to share administrative responsibilities for this project.  The 
DPD will also help serve as a regional representative, initiating and 
maintaining contacts, gathering pertinent information, and relaying 
information to other ICNL staff. 

Over the next three years, the DPD is expected to help develop the 
Budapest office into an independently governed, financially sustainable 
regional center on not-for-profit law.  Among other duties, the DPD will 
help develop and implement strategies for board development, fund 
raising, and institutional development of the center.  It is possible 
that the DPD would become the Program Director of this autonomous center.
